The Golden Crown seeks to bring the cycle under its control.  

They regulate resources, control sources of nourishment, and decide who changes and how. Their goal is to guide the development of the world in a chosen direction.  

But the cycle cannot be fully controlled, and even the smallest deviation can lead to consequences no one can predict.
